1. Karnak Temple

The largest religious site in Egypt. It is dedicated to the Theban Triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. The temple is famous for its massive columns, obelisks, and intricate hieroglyphs. Don’t miss the Hypostyle Hall with its 134 towering columns.

2. Valley of the Kings

This is the burial site of many pharaohs, including Tutankhamun. You can visit the tombs of famous rulers such as Ramses II, Merenptah, and of course, Tutankhamun (though there with additional entry fees to visit Tut’s tomb).

3. Temple of Hatshepsut

A stunning mortuary temple built for Egypt’s only female pharaoh. The temple’s design, with its terraced levels, is one of the most impressive in the world.

4. Colossi of Memnon

Two massive statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III. They stand at the entrance to his now-ruined mortuary temple and are a great photo opportunity.

5. Optional: A Nile River Cruise

6. Alabaster factories in Luxor are a popular destination for visitors interested in seeing the process of crafting traditional Egyptian alabaster items. Alabaster, a fine-grained, translucent stone, has been used for thousands of years to create a variety of objects, from sculptures to decorative vases and lamps. Luxor, with its rich history and proximity to ancient quarries, is one of the best places to observe alabaster being worked into beautiful artifacts.
