Alfayoum

The wonder of the water in the middle of the desert,  The oasis is a microcosm of Egypt, as it contains fertile areas suitable for agriculture, salt lakes, freshwater lakes, sand dunes, desert hills, pharaonic monuments and nature reserves.

Alfayoum oasis Less than two hours from Cairo, the vast salty Lake Qarun comes into view and the arid monotonous plains are replaced with a lush patchwork of farming plots, sunflowers swaying in the breeze, and tall date palms with water buffalo lounging in the shade beside them, it has an abundant population of fish and some migratory birds especially from November to February.

Faiyum was known to the ancient Egyptians as the twenty-first nome of Upper Egypt, This region has the earliest evidence for farming in Egypt, and was a centre of the royal pyramid and tomb-building in the Twelfth dynasty of the Middle Kingdom, and again during the rule of the Ptolemaic dynasty.

Faiyum became one of the breadbaskets of the Roman world.

The oasis full of life and has enough water which creates a unique diversity, like the waterwheels, the fields, and the rural life which can be visited by carriage to know more about the real-life and traditions of the locals.

Moving to the near-desert, we can discover the valley of the whales, the magic lake, the waterfalls, with very interesting activities like horses riding, sandboarding, jeep safari and sailing.

Camping is an activity which you should try when you are there like you are enjoying and watching the early creation of the universe, It can be in a well-furnished camping place with a toilette and rooms, or simply with tents and sleeping bags in a proper place in the desert.

Stargazing cannot be more touchable, effective and astonishing than being watching stars while camping middle of the desert.

The ancient Egyptians, as usual, left their fingerprints which fascinate the people till now, that what we find Alfayoum, like the temple of jewels from the middle kingdom, Karon temple, the abandoned city which show the type of life during the ancient Egyptian time.
