Ptolemy the 1st the founder of the Ptolemaic dynasty which ruled Egypt until the death of Cleopatra in 30 BC, completed the dream of Alexander because he founded and turned Alexandria into a centre of Greek culture.

Alexandria was the intellectual and cultural centre of the ancient world during the Ptolemaic era, The city and its library attracted many of the greatest scholars, including Greeks, Jews and Syrians. In addition to the library which was the greatest at that time, there was also Alexandria light tower this spectacular building, one of the seven ancient wonders.

For around 300 hundred years Alexandria was the pearl of the ancient world. If you are planning to visit Alexandria, you should take enough time to see Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Pompey Pillar, the catacombs, the roman theatre, its lovely museum and El Montaza Palace.

you can feel the soul of the city is in its streets, markets, public cafeterias, local restaurants, the corniche road and public transportations (tram and two-floor bus). For an unforgettable, unique experience there a walk or going by carriage will be the best choice.
