the pearl and bride who is sitting on the Mediterranean combining the soul of the west and east, spreading its wings like the ancient goddesses to cover and protect its residents and lovers.

332 BC in a village where the fishermen lived for thousands of years on the Mediterranean in a remote place far from Memphis and on the way to Amun oasis when Alexander the Great was intended to visit the oracle temple of his father Amun in Siwa oasis, suddenly he fell in love with this small village which called (Ra Kdt) Rhacotis , and decided to build his city by connecting between the village and pharos island.

The time wasn’t enough to enable Alexander to build the city because he left to Siwa oasis and after that, he left Egypt to complete his campaign in the ancient near east. Ptolemy the 1st the founder of the Ptolemaic dynasty which ruled Egypt until the death of Cleopatra in 30 BC, completed the dream of Alexander because he founded and turned Alexandria into a centre of Greek culture.

Alexandria was the intellectual and cultural centre of the ancient world during the Ptolemaic era, The city and its library attracted many of the greatest scholars, including Greeks, Jews and Syrians. In addition to the library which was the greatest at that time, there was also Alexandria light tower this spectacular building, one of the seven ancient wonders.

For around 300 hundred years Alexandria was the pearl of the ancient world. If you are planning to visit Alexandria, you should take enough time to see Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Pompey Pillar, the catacombs, the roman theatre, its lovely museum and El Montaza Palace.
